I have started to write fiction, and have beendoing my best to improve my craft and explore new ideas. Trying not to
pigeon-hole myself in a particular style or genre, I have instead been trying to connect a variety of stories and
settings both thematically and by writing them all within the same world. Each of my stories contributes to a larger
narrative tapestry about human connection.
Minding Bella
Short Story
A short story about Jess - a student whose routine is turned upside-down one Tuesday afternoon by a three-year old
named Bella.
The story explores the themes of loneliness and the rewards of connection, despite the chaos it sometimes brings.
Charlie Tough: Travel Sickness
Novel
A middle-grade science-fiction story about a boy whose tendency to become travel sick develops an unexpected
connection to time travel.
This ongoing project began with a desire to write something fun that my kids would want to read. Combining my own
love for sci-fi with my boys sense of adventure - and love of toilet jokes - I have set out to create a story that
combines humour and imagination whilst grounding it with loss and emotional depth.
Fractured Echoes
Short Story
Another short story, and still very much a work in progress, Fractured Echoes follows Mike Stevens, a former
marine, as he tries to evade capture after escaping from 'The Facility'.
Having received a headwound, combined with effects of drugs administered at The Facility, Mike struggles to
distinguish reality from hallucination, leaving the reader wondering what is actually real.
The Optimiser
Short Story
The Optimiser is a short story that follows Marcus Hale - an incredibly efficient businessman, whose only focus is
to streamline processes and optimise efficiencies. However, this comes at a human cost as jobs are replaced with
automated processes.
Originally an experiment to see how well AI can write, given a full prompt and direction, The Optimiser is currently
being rewritten from scratch.
The Gracious Wall
Novel
The Gracious Wall is a concept novel set in both the near future and a dystopian alternate reality, exploring themes
of societal collapse, human resilience, and the importance of human connection.
